Medical Massage Therapy
What is Medical Massage Therapy?

Medical Massage is a specialization of therapeutic massage in that it focuses on the care of diagnosed medical conditions such as Back Pain, Scoliosis, Sciatica, Headaches, Chronic Pain Syndromes, and many other conditions.

Unlike standard therapeutic massage therapy, medical massage focuses on supporting the treatment plan that is specific to the medical diagnosis a patient has.
Benefits of Medical Massage include:
-
Pain Reduction
-
Increased Blood Flow
-
Improved recovery from injuries

What is Therapeutic Massage Therapy?

Therapeutic Massage Therapy is patient-driven and does not require a medical diagnosis for care. Though an understanding of the patient's health is part of a professional massage service, the goals and techniques are different than medical massage.
Therapeutic Massage includes:
-
Relaxation and Stress Reduction
-
Release of Muscle Tension
-
Focus on Wellness

Sound Therapy:

Tuning Forks for Sound Therapy improve general relaxation and reduce stress. Eileen McKusick, an LMT, has conducted research that supports the value of this modality. Two different types of tuning forks are utilized for this type of therapy. The first type is a weighted tuning fork that is applied directly on the body. The second type is activated and is used above or near the body. Sound Therapy is a clothed modality. This modality is not recommended for those with pacemakers or other medical devices. This is also contraindicated for persons who are or may be pregnant.
